During the 1950s, Bromostampa was an Italian editor of film star and glamour postcards. Its Turin based address was Via Spotorno 2, but later on, the firm was also based in Milan. For this post we selected 25 cards of international stars although the focus is on the Italian cinema that was booming after the Second World War. The cards breathe the energy and vitality of that era: Va-va-voom!

Italian postcard in the 'Hobby' series by Bromostampa, Milano. The 'Hobby' series, with a white border below, was made to collect autographs by famous film stars. Giulietta Masina in Fortunella (Eduardo De Filippo, 1958), scripted by Federico Fellini, Ennio Flaiano and Tullio Pinelli. The film centers on a poor girl (Masina) who is convinced she is the daughter of a prince (Aldo Salvini). The composer of the film, Nino Rota, used music from Fellini's film Il Bidone for the score, while that score also contains music that later on became much more famous as the theme from The Godfather. This photo states the moment the girl is received by the prince in his palace.
